Scene Study: 21st Century Texts

This is an opportunity to venture into the bold, risk-driven, and ever-changing world of contemporary theater. Through partnered scene study and monologues, this 10-week class will address form, structure, and language, while defining the challenges that today’s theater creates for the actor. Through a study of the genre as a whole, you will learn to enter the rehearsal process not necessarily with all the answers, but with the right questions to ask when approaching a new text. Possible material includes the work of David Adjmi, Sarah Ruhl, Cusi Cram, and Anne Washburn.
