TIM WEIL
On Broadway, Tim most recently served as conductor and arranger for Shrek The Musical, composed the show's incidental music, and supervised the recently completed First National Tour of the show. Currently, he is supervising the London production of Shrek… and continues to be involved with the Second National Tour. Prior to that, Tim was the original music director, arranger, and music supervisor of the Broadway and touring productions of Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical Rent, and now he supervises the current Off-Broadway production. In the summer of 2010, he was music director for 3 sold-out nights of Rent at the Hollywood Bowl, for which he re-orchestrated the show for 13 pieces. For the film of Rent, directed by Chris Columbus, and for the Radical Media live film version of Rent, he contributed new arrangements and served as vocal director for the film and soundtrack. He also served as producer, musical director, and orchestrator for the critically-acclaimed film Camp (IFC, Jersey Films), and wrote an original song for the film. In the fall of 2007, Mr. Weil wrote and arranged a concert for the Library of Congress entitled "American Creativity: The Composer-Lyricist Jonathan Larson" in celebration of Mr. Larson's enshrinement into the permanent archives of the LOC. Tim also has served on the selection committee of the Jonathan Larson Foundation, which, with The American Theater Wing, has provided grants for countless lyricists and composers since 1997. He has been a music director, composer, arranger, and orchestrator for over 100 different productions in New York and worldwide, and his New York credits include Sally Marr And Her Escorts, starring Joan Rivers (Tony Award nominee); Jumpers by Tom Stoppard (Tony Award nominee); and orchestrations for 10 Million Miles at the Atlantic Theater Company (2007 Drama Desk Nomination, Best Orchestrations); and F******-A by Suzan-Lori Parks (Obie Nomination).
Tim has written, recorded, and performed original songs for "Sheep In The Big City" for The Cartoon Network and "Bear In The Big Blue House" for Nickelodeon. He has numerous recording credits as keyboardist, arranger, and producer, including Adam Pascal's debut CD Model Prisoner, Sherie Rene Scott's Men I've Had (both for Shk-a-Boom Records), and Ina May Wool's Crack It Open for Bang-Zoom Records.
