Advanced Scene Study: 21st Century Texts

Instructor: Reed Birney

(Circle Mirror Transformation at Playwrights Horizons)

This is an advanced acting class in mastering the provocative theatrical texts of today. You will work on both monologues and scenes, and receive coaching and exercises designed to sharpen your skill set and open your thinking to new ways of approaching material.  An interactive and nurturing class environment will broaden your perspective and stimulate your dramatic intuition, which will serve you in any future role. The scenes and monologues will be chosen by the students themselves with help and advice from the instructor. At the end of the semester, your strongest work will be showcased in a final presentation before an audience of guest artists and theater professionals. This class promises to be both fantastically challenging and fantastically fun.
