This intensive weekend workshop provides the opportunity for full dialect immersion. Actors should bring a text that calls for a Spanish accent—specifically Colombian, Spanish, Mexican, or NuYorican—or a text that could work well with one. The first day of the workshop will take an in-depth look at the vocal posture, phonetics, rhythm, melody, resonance, and physicality of your accent. On the second day, you will apply these elements to your chosen monologue and receive coaching and feedback. Through this process, you will learn how to achieve those subtle yet essential differences in speech that are definitive to a character. Students are encouraged to bring in their favorite Spanish or Latin American snacks and anything else to enhance the immersion process.
