IN-PERSON CLASS: DEMYSTIFYING THE CASTING PROCESS
With the theater world constantly changing, auditioning right now can feel like the Wild West.
- How can you be more versatile in both in person and virtual auditions?
- How do you handle in-person auditions while still also being asked to tape auditions and do virtual auditions?
- How can you set boundaries and still book the gig?
Guided by casting director Stephanie Klapper, you'll have an honest, positive, and proactive conversation about what auditioning in this current world means and explore techniques to create the best audition possible.
This class might be for you if you:
- Are an actor committed to pushing yourself to expand your auditioning skills.
- Want to be actively auditioning and need to adjust your approach for the current world.
In this class you will:
- Led by Stephanie, have an honest and ongoing dialogue about casting right now and how to navigate this complicated space with comfort and versatility.
- Explore and refine techniques for both your virtual and in-person auditions, focusing primarily on theater but also looking at indie film, podcasting, and the audio world based on the interests of the class.
- Work on monologues of your choosing, as well as sides and cold readings, which will be a mixture of pieces Stephanie handpicks for you and/or material you are working on for upcoming or recent auditions.
- Receive individualized feedback geared toward helping you be a stronger auditioner and more confident actor in this ever-changing (and potentially unnerving) world.
- Gain important information from both working on your feet and also watching others and absorbing Stephanie’s feedback and adjustments.
By the end of this class you will:
- Have a better understanding of the current auditioning landscape and insight on how to approach it.
- Be able to excel in any audition situation—virtual or otherwise—armed with the skills and confidence you need to make a great impression.
