Online Classes

ESPA now offers online classes as an extension of the time-tested writing curriculum.

Online classes help you create a draft of your play or TV pilot through weekly assignments and written or video lectures, providing the necessary structure and deadlines to those outside the tri-state area or with unpredictable schedules. Students will have access to their instructor and classmates via virtual classroom, including an interactive discussion board and virtual office hours.

How ESPA’s Virtual Classrooms Work:

Lectures and Assignments: Every week on a designated day, the instructor will post a lecture, which may be in written or video form. Lectures are personalized to meet the needs of students and may include suggested outside reading, viewing, or websites to explore. The instructor will also post an assignment, which can run the gamut from 10-min writing exercises to turning in the next 10 pages of your project. The instructor will post ten lectures and assignments over the course of 10-12 weeks.

Posting and Sharing: The virtual classroom has a page for students to upload their pages, which can then be marked private (for the instructors’ eyes only) or available for classmates to read. The virtual classrooms also offer an interactive discussion board for students to bounce ideas off of each other, share files, give feedback, and engage in community.

Virtual Office Hours: The instructor will post their virtual office hours each week, during which students can opt for 20 minutes of private discussion either via Skype, instant message, or over the phone.
