Q&A:
Nickname: Richard has pretty much the most nicknames of any name (except for maybe Margaret) - Dick, Dickie, Rich, Richie, Rick, Ricky. I've been called all of them. Now, most people call me Richard (unless they knew me from when I was a kid).
Pre-show ritual: Usually get there at Hour call. Go over my words. Wash my face and brush my teeth. Get dressed (I try not to wear makeup.) Wait for my cue.
Book you are reading: The Greater Journey, by David McCollough - about Americans in Paris in the 19th century.
Highlight of the year (so far): My wife's birthday party.
Your perfect day: At this time of year - Doing stuff in the garden, IF it's in the low '70's and partly cloudy.
Favorite theater urban legend: Not my favorites, but the ones I observe most strictly - Don't whistle in the dressing room, and DON'T mention anything to do with The Scottish Play (including THAT)!
Title of Autobiography: No Idea (Really! That's it!)
Favorite place in NYC: Bronx Zoo
If you could meet anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?: Stephen J. Gould. He was a rare intellect who could write for academics and the rest of us with equal ease. He thought about the big things and wasn't afraid to get down and dirty with those who attacked him. He died much too young.
Hidden talent: Fashion (for other people)
Last show you saw and LOVED: War Horse (That is I'm told I would have, had I been able to go).
A guilty pleasure: Being alone with those I love.
