This 5-week class will cover the techniques used by actors, directors, dramaturgs, and designers to analyze a script and prepare to bring it to life. You will learn how to break down a text into defining moments of the story, including dramatic action and performance beats. You will develop an understanding of dialogue, stage directions, and other textual tools that can inform your artistic choices. Throughout the class, students will move from analysis to application though scripted scene work in collaboration with their peers.
