David Saint (Director)
David worked with Pete Gurney on ten plays, including the national tour of The Cocktail Hour and four world premieres including The Fourth Wall, which he directed at Primary Stages. He is honored to direct this last play, which Pete wrote before his death. Mr. Saint has been Artistic Director at George Street Playhouse for 21 years, where he has directed 40 main stage shows including several of Gurney’s works. His most recent shows directed there include the premiere of American Hero by Christopher Demos-Brown, An Act of God with Kathleen Turner, and a newly revised version of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. Previously, he was Dan Sullivan’s Associate Artistic Director at Seattle Rep. New York directing credits include: Joe Di Pietro’s Clever Little Lies with Marlo Thomas; The Spitfire Grill and Flaubert’s Latest at Playwrights Horizons; After-Play and Down the Garden Paths, both by Anne Meara. He directed the national tour of the most recent revival of West Side Story, as well as in Tokyo, and his work has been seen at many leading regional theatres. Upcoming projects include The Trial of Donna Caine by Walter Anderson and a new musical of The Turning Point. Recipient of Alan Schneider Award, Helen Hayes Award, LA Drama Critics Award.
