planned giving

By including Primary Stages in your will, trust, or estate plan, you’ll join our Legacy Circle of supporters who have chosen to make a lasting impact on our mission for years to come. As we work together to build the next cohort of great American playwrights, we recognize that this will be a generational endeavor. Primary Stages is committed to supporting playwrights at every stage of their careers, and our Legacy Circle helps ensure that the most important plays of the next generation have a place to grow today.

Legacy Circle supporters receive recognition in our season programs and invitations to our annual Primary Stages Artists Salon event. There is no minimum donation required to join our Legacy Circle – the only requirement is informing us that you’ve included Primary Stages in your estate plans.

To include Primary Stages in your estate plans, please provide your attorney with the following information:

Organization Legal Name: Primary Stages Company, Inc.
Tax Identification #: 13-3258765
Mailing address: 520 8th Avenue, Suite 312, New York, NY 10018

Primary Stages is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts and bequests to Primary Stages are deductible for income, gift, and estate tax purposes to the extent permitted by law.

There are a few ways to include Primary Stages in your giving plans:

Bequests

Bequests allow you to make a contribution without reducing current income by designating a fixed dollar amount or percentage of your estate to Primary Stages in your will. In addition to cash gifts, you can bequeath assets such as shares of stock, savings bonds, or appreciated securities. You can instruct your brokerage firm to “transfer on death” to Primary Stages a portion of your specific brokerage or other account.

Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designations

Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designations allow you to name Primary Stages as a beneficiary of your retirement benefits. To donate this way, you can request a change-of-beneficiary form from your plan administrator, return the completed form to your administrator, and then notify Primary Stages. Naming Primary Stages as a beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan asset can make a major impact on our mission while also providing you with significant tax savings.

Donor Advised Funds

You can name Primary Stages and other non-profit organizations to receive the remainder of your Donor Advised Fund. This only requires you to fill out a change-of-beneficiary form with your fund administrator and notify Primary Stages.

Charitable trusts

Charitable trusts can provide income for yourself during your lifetime and also designate a gift for Primary Stages in the future.

life insurance

You can also designate the remaining balance of your life insurance policy to be donated to Primary Stages or other non-profits according to your instructions.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Erica Raven-Scorza, Director of Development, at 212.840.9705 x214 or eraven@primarystages.org.
