MEgan carter

Megan E Carter is a creative producer, dramaturg, and organizational strategist with over 20 years of experience in interdisciplinary performing arts. As a producer and dramaturg, Megan has developed work with acclaimed artists/companies including Ripe Time, Lear deBessonet, SITI Company, and the Rude Mechs, and new plays by Liz Duffy Adams, Sheila Callaghan, and Virginia Grise. Her dramaturgical work includes the American Premiere of Jackie by Elfriede Jelinek and editing English translations of Jelinek’s plays including Rechnitz and The Charges. As Producing Director of CalArts Center for New Performance, she produced innovative work with international artists including Polish director Natalia Korczakowska and acclaimed Chinese director Stan Lai at venues from REDCAT to the Wuzhen Theatre Festival and Małopolska Garden of Arts in Krakow. At WP Theater in the early 2000s, she produced ten world premieres and six New York premieres while facilitating the WP Lab for Directors, Playwrights, and Producers. She is the founder of Mechanical Raven Productions (est. 2025), which develops formally innovative, intellectually rigorous performance projects that view the audience as a collaborator. Through her consulting practice, Carter Creative, Megan guides arts organizations through transformational change, specializing in organizational development and legacy planning.
