Rehana Lew Mirza

Rehana Lew Mirza (she/her) is thrilled to return to Primary Stages after being a member of the Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group for three years and receiving the Virginia Toulmin New Play commission for A People’s Guide to History in the Time of Here and Now (AMDA; Launchpad; Brooklyn College). Her other plays/musicals include That Girl with composer/lyricist Ari Afsar (Berkeley Rep Ground Floor, O’Neill); A Beat of Our Own (previously Bhangin’ It and Bhangra Nation, upcoming at McCarter, Birmingham Rep, LJP, Rodgers, Orchard Project, Rhinebeck 3R/Retreat, Springboard); Hatef*ck (First Floor, WP/Colt Coeur); Neighborhood Watch (NNPN/InterAct commission, Jackalope Theatre); Soldier X (Ma-Yi, Brooklyn College); Tomorrow, Inshallah (Living Room Theater, Storyworks/HuffPost commission); Lonely Leela (LPAC, workshops at Magic, HERE); and Barriers (Desipina, AATC). She shares a 2019 Kleban Award and a 2016-2022 Mellon Playwright Residency (with Howlround) at Ma-Yi with Mike Lew. Awards/Residencies: Helen Merrill, WP, NYFA, HBO Access, Lilly, CCTP, Tofte Lake, Colt Coeur, and a TCG/New Georges Fellowship where she’s a 2026 Audrey Resident with composer/lyricist Miranda Ferriss-Jones.
